Stones in Our Hands at Waterstones Truro
An Evening of Poetry with St Petrocs
Join us for an evening of poetry from St Petrocs’ new poetry book ‘Stones in Our Hands’.
The event will take place at Waterstones in Truro on Wednesday 6 November, between 6.00 and 8.00 pm.
Tickets for this event are £3 each and available from the eventbrite website, or by calling 01872 260948.
Stones in Our Hands is a collection of poetry by clients, staff, volunteers and supporters of St Petrocs, exploring themes that resonate with homelessness. The poetry was produced through facilitated workshops with clients, staff, volunteers and supporters of St Petrocs throughout the winter of 2018/19.
This event will include a selection of poems, many read by the poets, and a chance to purchase the book and find out more about St Petrocs work and background on how the project came together.
Bert Biscoe, Cornish poet, politician, historian and bard of the Cornish Gorseth will be presenting this event which promises to be a special evening.
“They are deeply personal, and totally universal, humanity shown through longings for ordinary things, and joy found in hard times in nature.”
Poetry workshops took place during the delivery of the winter night shelters across St Petrocs’ two resource centres and supported accommodation.
One participant said:
“Since this writing project has started it’s helped me a great deal along the way, to feel empty now. It’s released all these chains. It’s like I can breathe again.”
