St Petrocs operates an Assertive Street Outreach service. This is designed to find and engage with rough sleepers across the length and breadth of Cornwall.
Many are found sleeping rough in woodlands, on beaches, in caves and on the outskirts of towns, making them less readily noticeable than perhaps would be the case in more urban, built-up areas of the county.
The Assertive Street Outreach team helps some of the most vulnerable and socially excluded members of the community. Many suffer from physical and mental ill health and may have turned to alcohol or drugs as a means of coping. It can take time to build trust and positive relationships with these individuals – contact with our team is a vital first step in getting them the help they need.
If you are sleeping rough and feel in immediate danger, call 999.
If you are sleeping rough and feel under threat, but not in immediate danger, call 101.
If you have seen someone sleeping rough who needs urgent medical attention or you believe they are under 18 years of age, call 999.
If you’re concerned about someone sleeping rough, call Streetlink.

Every year St Petrocs offers emergency shelter for those who are sleeping rough in Cornwall during the coldest period of the winter months. This is known as our Cold Weather Provision initiative.
For two months, between mid-December and mid-February, the Truro Resource Centre operates almost around the clock to ensure no one who is sleeping rough perishes. Even though Cornwall rarely experiences extreme cold, damp weather can cause significant health problems itself.
